Spent my Easter holidays at this hotel and had a great stay! The breakfast was fresh and diverse, with plenty of healthy options. Really enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea and cake, a perfect break during a busy day of exploring the city. The location couldn't have been better, walking distance to all the main attractions, and there was free parking nearby.

The room was a bit too small for my taste and the walls were thin, so I could hear the noise from the neighboring rooms. , the hotel was located near a train station, so I did hear some train noises during the night.

Very good dinner and breakfast included in the price.

The preparation or rather the transformation of the former County Prison into a nice little hotel has been successful. Many documents or pictures from the past can be seen on the walls of the hotel. Friendly lady at the reception. The salmon dish in the evening (obligatory half board) tasted excellent.

Beautiful hotel, centrally located. Enjoyed the afternoon treats and the light supper included in the price of the room. Price was very good. The building was originally a prison, which has created some nice architectural features:high ceilings with real timbers supporting them, thick outside walls and windows with rounded tops. But it certainly does not feel like a prison: spacious rooms, good bathrooms, and modern black and white decor.

The prison motif gets carried to extremes that are a bit hokey, like the pictures of the staff in convict garb in the main lobby.

I have stayed at a hotel that used to be something else before, but I have never stayed at a former prison turned into a hotel. The prison is quite interesting, and I liked how the hotel decorated the rooms with attention to detail, including the number plates on the doors. I also enjoyed the buffet breakfast and dinner, which was great value for money. The location is very convenient as well, with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance.

While the hotel had some highlights, there were a few downsides. One issue I had was with the lack of toiletries in the room, as they only provided shower gel.

Comfortable hotel near from the city center, the hotel has unusual history, and if it were not the photos and interior design, it would be hard to imagine! Great halfboard! Certainly we would stay again.

Funny with all old posters showing the 19th Century convicts. The small windows with fake bars are nice. Good breakfast didn't have a chance to try the evening meal.
